4 steps to make your own symbol

Here are the four steps that are implemented in the workshop to create your symbol, Shimon.

Step1

Write down in words things you value, things you love, and things you have continued to do.

Try not to think too much.

Write down as many as you can think of, from concrete objects (cats, wine, cake) to somewhat abstract objects (travel, nature, family) to abstract objects (peace, love, bonds).

Step2

Using the classification chart, divide the words from Step 1 into four groups.

(e.g., food, nature, living things, work)

From each group, choose one that you think cannot be left out.

Narrow down the total to three to four.

Step3

Using your smartphone, search for a shape that is close to the word image you chose in step 3.

Using photos and illustrations as a reference, draw out the shape you envision.

The goal here is to bring the image in your mind closer to the image you see in your eyes, so don't try to draw a good picture!

Step4

Combine the pictures drawn in step 3.

Combine the two drawings into one, discard them in a drastic manner, or change their placement from top to bottom, left to right, and so on, and decide on the best position.

The key is not to include too much. The design becomes more refined if you leave the white space well.

These tasks become overwhelming when done alone. But you are engaged in conversation with other participants and staff, ideas naturally come to you, and you discover things that are difficult to notice on your own. Hence you are able to organize your mind, making the two hours pass in no time.

Now it is time to pass the baton to a graphic designer!

The designer will later finish it in Illustrator and send it to you by e-mail for your review of the proposed design.

If revisions are necessary, they will be done online so that you can have your Shimon exactly as you want it! (Revision is limited to one time).
